Mangalore, Nov 24: A mass agitation has been organized by BJP at the city central and city junction railway stations on Saturday, November 24, to protest against the delay of Mangalore-Bangalore passenger train re-introduction.
Thousands of activists rushed into the railway station and stopped the trains which start its journey from here. It must be noted here that BJP activists from all parts of the district have been participating in this protest.
Moreover the protestors also stopped the goods trains at the Kankanady city junction railway station and shouted slogans against the railway department and union government.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP state president D V Sadananda Gowda informed that the BJP delegation has met the railway board chairman about eight times. To which he did not receive any positive response, he alleged.
He lamented that the union government has totally neglected Dakshina Kannada. The Matsyagandha Express which was earlier running between Mangalore and Mumbai has already been grabbed by the Keralites. The national highway in Dakshina Kannada is in a bad shape. Despite all these problems faced by the public, the Centre is not showing any concern for people of coastal Karnataka, he rued further.
