KUSHALNAGAR (KODAGU DISTRICT): State BJP president and Mangalore MP, D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday lashed out at the reported statements of Rahul Gandhi, who has stated that the Gandhi family was instrumental in getting independence for India.

Leading the Kodagu leg of the `Vikasa Yatra’ here and addressing a gathering, he stated there was a big difference between Mahatma Gandhi, who initiated the freedom movement, and the Gandhi family, which was now being led by Sonia Gandhi. The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had failed to address the national interests, he alleged. He suspected a hand of the UPA Government in delay in awarding death to Afzal Guru in Parliament shoot-out case. (more…)
